Lotro maps. what started as a small, private, project for myself has become a project to share with the world. It is far from complete, and most likely stay that way because of expancions and updates to Lotro.
The Kingsfell area of the North Downs has great tier 3 ore node density. In Evendim, the Parth Anduil area between Tinnudir and Ost Forod is also node rich, but the mobs are a bit higher level. You'll find plenty of nodes in eastern Lone-lands while leveling there.

Was lots of fun stealthing past the highest ranked creeps in the boss area, mine, then restealth while they were looking outwards for freeps. So far, the farthest east I've gone is a little past the Forsaken Inn, and the only types of ore I've seen are copper, tin, barrow-iron, and silver, but the lorebook lists rich iron, ancient iron, gold, and a bunch of other stuff.

Normal ore deposits yield 1 to 3 ore, while Rich/Bountiful ore deposits yield 4 to 6 ore and are more likely to also yield crafting materials such as dye materials, gems, and mastery components. Prospectors have the skill to smelt ore into ingots for other professions. Metalsmiths, Weaponsmiths, and Jewellers can use these ingots to craft items.

Yeah, I actually took somebody's advice and spent some time farming rich iron ore in the North Downs last night, put a stack in the AH and woke up with 5 gold in my mailbox this morning. And yeah, I can remember when I first started out and thought that 700s for a horse was ridiculous, now I'm seeing items auction for 95g regularly. Gettin' crazy.
